Electric vehicles are gaining popularity among celebrities in India. We have seen many celebrities and veteran actors opt for expensive and flagship EVs. However, singer Jasleen Royal is different from them all. She recently brought home a brand new BYD Atto 3 electric SUV. She is the first Indian celebrity to buy a BYD electric vehicle in India. The singer shared the news of her new car on social media.

The images have been shared by Jasleen herself on Instagram. The singer posted images of her standing with the car with the caption, “BYD ATTO 3 is to my journey what music is to my life – it drives me to express myself. Delighted to be part of the BYD family & representing BYD ATTO 3, the Born e-SUV from the World’s Leading New Energy Vehicle Player!”

BYD is a popular brand in the electric vehicle segment. BYD stands for Build Your Dreams, and they currently have three electric cars in their lineup in India. The BYD e6 MPV was the first offering, and the Atto 3 was the second. It is actually an electric SUV. BYD started their passenger vehicle segment recently, but they have been present in the commercial vehicle space for 16 years now.

Jasleen bought the Atto 3 in a shade of black, and it looks extremely premium in this color. The SUV bought by the singer is finished in a dual-tone shade of black and deep blue or navy blue. The BYD Atto 3 looks premium and offers a decent number of features too. It comes with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a Level-2 advanced driving assistance system (ADAS), leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, aircraft-like gear selector, clean dashboard design, and so on.

BYD initially launched the Atto 3 in 2 variants. This year, they introduced a lower variant which was ₹9 lakh cheaper. The newly introduced base variant is called Dynamic. Other than Dynamic, BYD also offers Extended Range and Special Edition variants. The Dynamic version uses a 49.92 kWh battery pack, while the higher trims get a larger 60.48 kWh battery pack.

While there is a difference in the battery pack size, there is no difference when it comes to power and torque outputs. The electric SUV generates 204 PS and 310 Nm of peak torque.

If we talk about the driving range, the smaller battery pack delivers a claimed range of 468 km on a single charge. On the other hand, the bigger battery pack has a claimed range of 521 km on a single charge.

The Extended Range and Special Edition of the BYD Atto 3 come with 80 kW DC charging support, while the Dynamic variant gets 70 kW DC charging support. Furthermore, the 80 kW DC charger can charge the SUV from zero to eighty percent in just fifty minutes. BYD offers their Blade battery technology with the Atto 3, which is much more advanced and efficient than a regular battery pack.

If you are not using a fast charger but a conventional AC charger, the battery would take around 9.5-10 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent. The price for a BYD Atto 3 electric SUV starts at ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). We hope to see more young celebrities from the industry join the BYD bandwagon.
