As good as social media is, there are a number of drawbacks associated with it. Of these, one of the biggest is the increasing amount of fake news. Due to some people’s malicious intentions, fake news spreads like wildfire. Most recently, Anand Mahindra, the Chairperson of Mahindra Group, was accused of driving cars from foreign brands. Despite his busy schedule, Anand Mahindra made time to address this particular internet troll. He listed every car he has driven since he started driving and proved this man wrong.

Anand Mahindra Accused of Using German Cars
This entire saga started when a person named Rattan Dhillon shared a post on X. In his post, he shared two pictures. In the first picture, Anand Mahindra, while doing an interview with Autocar India, was sitting in front of a vintage car. The other picture was a screengrab from an article that mentioned Anand Mahindra has a number of cars from German automakers.
The post was shared with the caption, “Given Mr. Anand Mahindra’s strong advocacy for ‘Made in India,’ why does he opt to drive BMW and Mercedes cars instead of a Mahindra Thar, which is built by his own company? @anandmahindra.”

Although there were many comments from people who instantly believed the fake news they read online, some people came to the defense of Anand Mahindra. One of them was Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor of Autocar India. He highlighted that what Dhillon was saying is false.
Hormazd stated that Anand Mahindra not only drives cars made in India but rather drives cars made by Mahindra. He added that for the last 30 years, the Mahindra boss has been driving cars from his brand, starting with a black Armada five-door SUV. Currently, Anand Mahindra uses a red Scorpio-N, he added.
Following this tweet, Hormazd shared another post. In this post, he stated, “Have just witnessed the anatomy of fake news! Following this tweet by Hormazd, Anand Mahindra himself shared a post to stop the fake news from spreading. In his detailed post, he highlighted every car he has ever owned and gets driven around in. He started by stating that the first car in which he learned to drive was a blue-colored Premier, which at the time was also called a Fiat.
Anand Mahindra mentioned that it belonged to his mother, who fondly named it “BlueBird.” After this, he stated, “I then also began using our soft-top Mahindra CJ3 UV, which was in our home in Kodagu. When I joined M&M in ‘91, the company car allotted to me was a Hindustan Motors Contessa. The moment we produced the hard-top Armada, I switched to using that.”
The Mahindra boss continued by stating that over the years, he has been switching his cars. The list of his cars includes a Bolero, a Scorpio Classic, an XUV500, and his current car, the Scorpio-N, finished in red. He added that he also occasionally uses his wife’s silver Mahindra XUV700.
Apart from this, Anand Mahindra also touched upon the picture of him that is being circulated. He stated that the picture shared was taken during Monterey Car Week, an automotive event that takes place every year in Monterey, California, in the United States of America.
He mentioned that the picture was taken when he went to launch the Pininfarina hypercar Battista. The Mahindra chief stated that the car in the picture is the vintage Cisitalia, designed by Pininfarina. He highlighted that Pininfarina, the popular Italian design house that has designed most of the iconic Ferraris and other Italian cars, is also owned by Mahindra Group.
Anand Mahindra Has Taken Deliveries of Multiple Cars
Over the years, as mentioned by Anand Mahindra, he has been using different Mahindra-made SUVs. So far, we have seen him taking deliveries of cars including the Mahindra Invader, TUV300, TUV300 Plus, Mahindra Scorpio Classic, Mahindra Alturas G4, and his current car, the Mahindra Scorpio-N, finished in striking red.
