Brand new Harrier faces issue

Tata cars are known for their build quality. However, they are not often the most reliable ones in town. We have come across several instances in the past where Tata customers have faced issues with brand new cars. Here we have one such incident where the customer’s brand new Tata Harrier SUV broke down just 60 meters after driving out of the showroom.

The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. As per the video, the customer had bought his brand new Tata Harrier facelift from a dealership in Delhi. The delivery took place at night, and after taking delivery, the customer decided to drive his SUV back home with his family.

However, the customer was not ready for what happened next. The SUV stalled in the middle of the road, and the instrument cluster started showing a notification saying that the key fob was out of range. The customer was confused at first, and when he checked, the key fob was there in his car itself.

The customer then contacted the dealership staff, and they came to the spot and fiddled with the vehicle for more than an hour and finally got it started. This happened not once but at least four times on the same day. The issue was not resolved, and the customer was very unhappy. He then took the car to the service center, where he was told that the vehicle’s software needed to be updated and it would work fine after that.

However, when the customer visited the service center, he was surprised to see that the center console and the dashboard of the SUV were taken apart. The dealer also managed to get a dent on the driver-side door of the SUV, which they replaced later on. The customer was not informed about this, and he was not given clarity on what exactly the issue was with the SUV.

We also hear the customer speaking to one of the service center staff, where he says that he is not satisfied with the vehicle at all, as it has never been on the road without trouble even for a day.

Finally, the service center managed to resolve the existing issues with the SUV. However, the customer was now facing a new set of issues.

The SUV’s hazard lamps would go on on their own at any point in time, and the security alarm would also go off. Not only that, the tailgate and the doors would also unlock on their own. The car has once again reached the service center, and they have given him a Tata Tigor sedan as a loaner car.

The customer is so frustrated with the vehicle and the service that he is now demanding a complete refund or to replace the SUV with a new one. We understand the customer sentiment in this case, as he had not bought a brand new vehicle to only park it at the service center. We hope this issue gets addressed and resolved. Incidents like these do not leave a good impression in the minds of prospective customers.

Tata Motors’ dealers have to work on better pre-delivery inspection and quality control as this isn’t the first time that a Tata car/SUV owner is complaining of such an experience. In face, we’ve covered multiple such instances in the past, and it’s about time that the dealers are made to pull up their socks to ensure a great buying experience.
