Have you ever had a billionaire CEO deliver your food order? Well, recently, some people in Gurgaon had such opportunities. They got their orders delivered by Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal himself! Dressed in the Zomato’s signature uniform, he assumed the role of a delivery partner, along with his wife Grecia Munoz. The couple themselves delivered orders on a Triumph Scrambler 400X. The aim was to understand the challenges faced by various Zomato delivery partners. Getting a first-hand taste of these will help in implementing improvements in the future.

Goyal shared the experience on Instagram, tagging his wife, with the caption: “Went out to deliver orders a couple of days ago, teaming up with”. The CEO shared a series of images. One of them shows the couple riding the motorcycle. In another picture, they can be seen checking mobile phones, likely checking delivery addresses.
Another reel, a POV showing Goyal riding the motorcycle has the caption “Loving delivering food to our customers, and enjoying the ride. Tag team with Grecia Munoz “. Another post shows the couple interacting with customers as well. Many people can be seen reacting on these posts.
Most comments appreciate the CEO’s initiative. One user commented ‘ Not a regular billionaire’. And we agree! With the new initiative, the Zomato CEO has joined the growing clan of CEOs who are keen on understanding their business from the ground up.
The comments also signify that Goyal is an inspiration for many. Several users have commented the same. Some believe this to be a mere marketing stunt. One user wrote ‘Different way of doing marketing’. While we agree that there is a degree of marketing involved in it, such initiatives will help the CEOs get a clue of ground-level challenges faced by their partners.

Zomato And Motorcycle: A Viral Incident From The Past
Previously, in what appears to be a social media campaign, a woman- who posed as the model, was seen riding a motorcycle, seemingly on a delivery trip. She is seen wearing the Zomato uniform and has the branded delivery bag on. The lady was, however, not wearing a helmet. The video, likely captured from Vijaya Nagar in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, got a lot of shares and netizens soon started talking about it. Some saw it as endorsing helmet-less riding, and started criticising Goyal for the same.
The CEO through an X post, denied any such intention from his end. The post said “We had absolutely nothing to do with this. We don’t endorse helmet-less biking,”

The user who posted the video gave it the caption: “Indore Zomato marketing head had this idea. He hired a model to drive around with an empty Zomato bag for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. Zomato is on a roll,” Goyal explained the incident by saying that there’s nothing wrong with women delivering Zomato orders. However, the incident was not an official campaign. He has denied Zomato having any association with the incident. He says “Someone just ‘free-riding’ on our brand. We have hundreds of women who deliver food every day to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic.”
