At the moment, Volkswagen does not have any electric vehicle offering in India. However, to change this, the company is gearing up for the launch of its brand-new electric SUV, the iD4, in India. This new SUV is expected to be launched around December of this year. At present, the exact date has not been announced.

It will be launched as the flagship vehicle in Volkswagen’s lineup in India and will be priced in the range of Rs 65 lakh. The iD4 EV SUV is based on Volkswagen’s MEB Platform. Internationally, the iD4 is offered with 52 kWh and 77 kWh battery packs.

They offer ranges of 340 km and 500 km, respectively. The iD4 features a futuristic look with smooth-flowing body lines on the outside. It also gets a very modern-looking interior, which is dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment screen. It will also be loaded with features like ADAS and many others.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

Next up in the lineup is the launch of the Taigun facelift. The only compact SUV offering from the brand is about to undergo a significant upgrade. Most likely, the Taigun facelift will be launched early next year. Some reports have claimed that it could also arrive later this year.

In terms of major changes, the SUV will get a set of brand-new front and rear bumpers. It could also get revised headlights and taillights. Now, coming to the main highlights on the inside, the SUV will most likely get a panoramic sunroof and ADAS Level 2 features.

As for the powertrain options, they will most likely remain the same. This means that it will come equipped with the same 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo petrol engines. The former makes 118 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter makes 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Expect a slight premium over the current pricing of the Taigun.

Volkswagen Tayron 5-seater

Another one of the major launches from the brand will be the Tayron 5-seater premium SUV. This new SUV will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail in India. It will replace the current five-seater Tiguan, which has been suffering from lackluster sales.

The new Tayron will be a much more modern and futuristic-looking SUV. It will boast a feature-loaded cabin with a number of premium amenities. Volkswagen will bring it via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. The launch is expected in 2025

The Tayron in international markets is available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol and a turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel engine. Both engines get a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard. Only the petrol engine will be offered in India.

In addition to the five-seater Tayron, the company will also be launching the Tayron seven-seater. This model will fill the void in Volkswagen’s lineup left by the Tiguan Allspace. It will be based on the new MQB Evo platform. Like the five-seater model, it will also be offered with the 2.0-liter petrol hybrid powertrain.

It will be launched in India in 2025 and will be priced in the range of Rs 35-40 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and the new generation Ford Endeavour. Like the five-seater model, it will also be brought in via the CKD route.

Kylaq-based Sub-compact SUV

Although this SUV has not been given an official name, Volkswagen is also working on the development of a sub-compact SUV. This SUV will be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform, which underpins the upcoming Skoda Kylaq and the current generation of cars from VW and Skoda.

It will compete with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and many others in this highly competitive segment. Most likely, it will be launched by 2026 in India. As per reports, unlike the Kylaq, which will only be offered with the 1.0-liter petrol engine.

The upcoming Volkswagen sub-compact SUV will be offered with the more powerful 1.5-liter engine as well. This motor generates 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The new model is expected to boost sales for Volkswagen in India.
