LEGENDARY Racers and Cars at Brainerd Nostalgia Drag Race! Cool Nostalgia! Super Stocks, Pro Stocks, And More!
Old drag cars are awesome! You can call them nostalgic, vintage, whatever you want, but they are awesome. Take the Loose Caboose Road Runner, for example, and just look at how cool this car is today even though it is 55 years old and has been a race car most of its life. If this was a restored car at a show, everyone would appreciate and love it, but this thing gives off a completely different vibe on the dragstrip.
Check out the video from our friend Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, and let us know what you think. I dig it!
Video Description:
Brainerd Motorsports Park, previously known as Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip is the home track of many legendary drag racers from back in the ’70s. Cotton Perry, Johnny Labbous and many others called Brainerd home, and still make passes as the historic track to this day. BMP hosts a couple of nostalgia races per year, and I was able to see a little bit of the fall 2024 event. Lots of old school cars, although this isn’t comparable to the Southeast Gassers Association racing that you’ve seen on my channel before. Still though, a neat event with a handful of gassers, Super Stockers and dragsters.
Included in this video is Cotton Perry’s Pocket Rocket Chevy II, a tribute to his old 6-cylinder car that dominated H/MP back in the day. Another is the Loose Caboose Road Runner, a great restoration of an iconic local bracket racers. Other cars shown are the Two-Timer ’55 Chevy of Scott Abbott, Robert Nance’s Mr. Plymouth Duster, Darrell Alderman’s 1994 Dodge Avenger Pro Stock, Bob Glidden’s 1988 Ford Thunderbird Pro Stock and more. I feature a few of my favorites and then show some action from the day at the track.
