This video showing the crash of an Ather rider has been shared on X by Drive Smart on their page. It is dashcam footage that has been shared by the owner of the Mahindra Scorpio-N involved in this accident. The clip starts by showing that a Mahindra Scorpio-N is being driven on a normal single-lane road at a decent speed.
We can then observe that the Scorpio-N driver makes a right turn. During this, he even uses his horn constantly before making the turn to alert people coming. Now, what happens is that after turning right, we can see that an Ather 450X rider was coming from the opposite side.
Using a phone while riding causes a huge crash
What can also be seen in the video is that this Ather rider’s scooter was coming on the wrong side. This happened as the rider was not paying attention to the road as he was using his mobile phone. Unfortunately, when the rider did see the Scorpio-N in front of him, it was already too late.
At this point he still tried to hit the front brake of his scooter with all his force. However, due to the use of only one hand and his delayed reaction, the Ather crashed into the front end of the Mahindra Scorpio-N.

The entire fault in this accident is of the Ather rider. It can be noted that he was not looking at the road while riding. His entire attention was on his phone. Also, we can note that he was not using both of his hands as well. He was riding the scooter only with his right hand.
Apart from this, we can note that the rider was not even wearing a helmet. As for the Scorpio-N driver, he could not have done anything as the rider came in front of him very quickly. Thankfully, this accident did not take place at a higher speed, because it could have resulted in the Ather rider getting more seriously injured.
