The MG Windsor EV has managed to surprise everyone by becoming the best-selling electric car in India. Last month, the company sold a total of 3,116 units of the Windsor EV, which contributed to 30 percent of total electric car sales in October. So far, we have seen all the top-spec Essence variants in detailed videos. However, recently, a video showing the base Excite variant of the MG Windsor EV has been shared online.
MG Windsor EV base Excite walkaround
A detailed walkaround video of the MG Windsor EV’s Excite variant has been shared on YouTube by Fuel Injected on their channel. It starts with the vlogger giving an introduction to the vehicle. He states that this particular variant is the base Excite variant, which starts at Rs 9.99 lakh with the BaaS program.
Now, if the customer wishes to buy both the car and the battery together, its ex-showroom price is Rs 13.49 lakh. Following this, the vlogger then talks about the powertrain option. He mentions that the good thing about the MG Windsor EV is that it is only offered with a single battery pack option.
It comes with a 38 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed range of 331 km on a single full charge. He adds that so far he has been able to achieve 250-300 km of real-life range with the MG Windsor EV. As for the power, the Windsor EV makes 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque, he adds.
Exterior walkaround
After this, the host begins the exterior walkaround of the Windsor EV Excite variant. He mentions that from the front, it is hard to differentiate this base variant from the more expensive variants. It gets the same LED DRL, split LED headlight setup with projector lights.
Following this, the vlogger opens the bonnet of the vehicle and shows the components inside. He explains that as it’s an EV, it does not have a traditional engine at the front. Instead, there are reservoirs for coolants and other electrical components.
After this, he moves to the side profile and shows the charging port located on the front left fender. He mentions that MG is currently offering Windsor EV owners free DC charging for a year. It also offers two AC chargers: the first is a standard 3.3 kW charger, which takes 13.8 hours to fully charge it.
Meanwhile, the 7.4 kW charger takes around 6.5 hours. Lastly, he mentions that the DC charger charges this vehicle from 0-80 percent in just 50 minutes. After this, he shows the overall side profile and states that it looks very good even in this base spec.
He adds that this particular model comes with 17-inch steel wheels with futuristic-looking wheel covers. Next up, he mentions that the base variant comes with flush-type door handles. They are not automated as in the Exclusive and Essence variants. Finally, he shows the rear, which looks identical to the top-spec variants.
Interior
After this, the vlogger opens the door and reveals the interior. He mentions that the base variant misses out on leather upholstery, ambient lighting, high-end speakers, infinity glass roof, larger 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and several other features.
However, it still comes with an electronic handbrake, manually height-adjustable driver’s seat, flat-bottom steering wheel, multimedia controls, cruise control, and auto headlamps. It also has a 7-inch digital instrument gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. Overall, he mentions that it is a very well-equipped and spacious cabin.
