Amitabh Bachchan, one of India’s most iconic and celebrated actors, has been a part of the entertainment industry for over five decades and has done over 200 movies. During this span, the “Star of the Millennium” has amassed wealth that reflects his status as an immensely successful veteran. Over the years, Bachchan has developed a penchant for luxury car shopping, building a collection that is as remarkable as his filmography. His latest addition seems to be a BMW i7 electric luxury sedan, that the actor gifted himself with, on his 82nd birthday.

Like many other stars of Bollywood, Bachchan has the habit of addressing the public at Jalsa- his bungalow, on birthdays. This time too, a lot of people had gathered there, to get a glimpse of their favourite man from the big screen. Bachchan addressed the crowd, and many including us could spot two stars together- the Big B and his brand new BMW i7!

The car is finished in the Individual Adventure Red metallic colourway. The visuals of the car lack clarity, but it seems like Bachchan has opted for the two-tone Oxid Grey Met colourway for his i7. This gives it a Rolls-Royce-like two-tone treatment, finishing the bonnet, pillars, roof, and upper part of the boot in Oxid Grey metallic. This colour treatment costs 1.75 lakh rupees. Below is what it could look like.

The car- i7 eDrive 50 M Sport- has an ex-showroom price of 2.03 Crores, before options. The paint job takes the price to 2.20 Crores. Any additional options will only take the cost further up, and there are several opportunities for speccing, inside the cabin. Interior packages like Merino leather, for example, would add another 19.5 lakh to the price.

If specced with the most expensive option the ex-showroom price could be around 2.5 Cr. In that case, the on-road costs could touch 3 Cr! We don’t know the exact specs the actor has gone for though.

Talking powertrains, the i7 Drive 50 comes with a 101.7 KWh battery pack and dual electric motors that generate 544 hp and 745 Nm. There is obviously AWD on offer. The top speed is 250 kph and this EV can do the 0-100 kph run in just 3.7 seconds. The range is a good 560 km per charge. The battery pack supports up to 195 kW DC fast charging. 10-80% charging can be done in under 40 minutes.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Drool-Worthy Garage

The actor owns a mind-blowing collection of cars. There is everything from vintage cars to fast and luxurious modern machines. He seems to be spending carefree on cars and SUVs. Some of the most notable cars of his garage are Range Rover LWB SV Autobiography, Range Rover Autobiography, Porsche Cayman S, Mercedes-Benz V-Class, Bentley Continental GT, Rolls Royce Phantom, Mini Cooper S, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mahindra Thar, and Toyota Innova Crysta.

The Bachchan’s Prefect Story

Big B owns an expensive car collection. But the Bachchan family had had humble beginnings. Their first car was a Ford Prefect, which was purchased during the 1950s, when the family lived in Allahabad. Over the years, it was sold off. One of Amitabh Bachchan’s blog posts has a mention of this vehicle. Anant Goenka, a friend of him, came to know about this and set out on a journey to find and acquire the car. After putting in a lot of effort, he traced the car which was in Mysuru. He bought it and brought to Mumbai. It was not in a good shape.

Anant spent days and months restoring it to the original glory, and gave it the original Yellow paint as well. Finally, he gifted the car to Amitabh Bachchan, who was left speechless. He expressed his gratitude by writing a detailed blog post explaining the entire journey and thanking Goenka for the thoughtful gesture. The Prefect thus deserves a mention while talking about Big B’s garage.
