Audi RS 6 Performance Avant vs Audi R8: Which Wins A Drag Race?

The Audi R8 Performance Spyder is one of the world’s greatest supercars. It features immense power, an open top, unmistakable style, impressive dynamics, and most notably the irreplaceable and rare sound of a V10 engine. However, Audi is no stranger to making incredible high-performance cars, and the new, improved Audi RS 6 Avant Performance is one as well. Disguised as an unassuming station wagon save for sporty styling, the Audi RS 6 Performance in face hides even more power under the hood, as well as similar dynamics, with 621 horsepower coming from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The R8 performance gets 612 horsepower from its naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10.

Pairing the supercar with the super wagon in a drag race is sure to yield interesting results. Despite a slight lack in power on the part of the R8, it’s lighter weight and more distilled focus on performance could give it the advantage, but with more power, the RS 6 might outrun the sleek supercar, with back seats and trunk space to boot. However, with a naturally aspirated engine, turbo lag isn’t a possibility for the R8.

The first race saw the R8 win, but it was close, and a second race saw the RS 6 do a better launch and start ahead, but eventually give way to the R8 towards the end for another close second-place finish at 10.9 seconds for the R8 to go a quarter-mile, and 11.2 seconds for the RS 6 to do the same. The races continued like that, but at the end of the day, even coming in second is an example of how excellent the Audi RS 6 Avant performance is, keeping up with Audi’s incredible flagship supercar with the ability to carry cargo and passengers in the back.
