Audi has previewed the upcoming e-tron GT update, giving us an early look at the upcoming facelift. Although it wears camouflage, it’s easy to spot several revisions compared to the outgoing model.

The front end benefits from a new bumper with more aggressive air vents and black trim elements. The fascia has a hint of R8, with what appears to be sharper headlight clusters and a wider body-colored panel. The new e-tron GT also benefits from Audi’s new badging, which was first introduced on the Q8 e-tron SUV.

Subtly Updated Styling Hides Massive Under-The-Skin Updates

It’s difficult to spot any design changes at the rear, although the diffuser has been altered subtly. Elsewhere, the black-painted wheels appear new. Significant changes will occur under the skin, where the e-tron is expected to borrow from the recently updated Porsche Taycan. Whereas the Porsche develops as much as 1,092 horsepower in its top trim, we expect the Audi’s figures to be more reserved.

The RS e-tron GT will adopt the ‘Performance’ moniker and race onto the scene with more power than the outgoing model. As a reminder, the electric performance sedan currently develops up to 637 hp. The new one should be even more potent than this but less powerful than the Taycan Turbo GT. While Audi hasn’t shared any technical data, the UK’s CAR Magazine claims the updated model produces around 800 hp.

Improved Handling, Range, And Charging Expected

Reports claim the RS e-tron GT will receive an active Curve Tilting Function, bringing numerous dynamic and comfort benefits to the vehicle. With this, customers will be able to get in the car with greater ease, thanks to an access mode. Through the corners, the system works to counter body roll, keeping the vehicle flat in the bends and thereby tightening up the handling.

As with the Porsche, we anticipate the e-tron GT will benefit from a larger battery, up from 93 kWh to 105 kWh. This means the Audi should benefit from increased range while charging times should also improve. In the Taycan, the 800-volt architecture has been fettled with and can now charge at speeds of up to 320 kW. That means the Porsche can charge from 10-80% in as little as 18 minutes. Hopefully, the same revisions will be applied to the Audi.

When Will It Arrive?

Audi hasn’t said when the RS e-tron GT Performance will debut, but we expect it to be officially revealed before the end of the year. The Q6 e-tron followed the Macan EV by two months, so the new e-tron GT line should make an appearance any minute now.

As for pricing, we expect the newcomer to carry a heftier price tag than the 2024 e-tron GT ($106,500) and the 2024 RS e-tron GT ($147,100). Given the increased capabilities of the Performance variant, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it surpass the $160,000 mark. Then again, Audi wouldn’t want to stop on the toes of the Taycan, which, when loaded up with options, exceeds the $300,000 mark.
