‘The perfect blend of race car adrenaline and superbike thrill’ is how the manufacturer describes this electric trike. It is called the ‘Bad Boy’ and has just made its premiere in India. With a radical design and an exciting powertrain, this product is claimed to redefine personal mobility. Currently a prototype, it could cost around 15 lakh rupees when it finally makes it to production.

The Bad Boy trike is made for young adults who are after fresh, radical designs and futuristic cabin layouts. This vehicle gets a reverse trike design- with two wheels at the front and one at the rear. The chassis is narrow and it gets a lightweight build. The design has a high focus on aerodynamics and looks good in the flesh.

Rather than an outright daily commuter, this trike feels more of a weekend wheels for the thrill seekers- something they will be to ride/ drive around for fun and adrenaline. The manufacturer seems to know this very well and has given two distinct modes to the tandem seats on this trike- one for laid-back cruising and the other for what they say ‘ romantic rides with your partner.’ Tandem seating is also a first in its segment.

In dimensions, the vehicle is 4000 mm in length, 1400 mm in width, and 1200 mm in height. The track itself is 1200mm wide, and it has a wheelbase of 2800 mm. The ground clearance is 180 mm. To give you a better picture, this is roughly the ground clearance of a Skoda Slavia. The turning radius here is 4.6 meters.

Specifications: Powertrain, Range And Top Speed

The Bad Boy prototype features an electric powertrain that is claimed to make it do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 4.5 seconds. That’s fast indeed. It is claimed to have a top speed of 200 kph. Though there is no data available on the size of the battery pack or motor outputs, we are told that the EV will return around 400 km in range. Regular AC charging will take 7-8 hrs- say sources.

A major attraction on the mechanical side, is the 45-degree tilting mechanism. Trikes are known for the way they tilt and stick around corners. The better they do this, the faster they are! The Bad Boy prototype claims to do 45 degrees- which is ample to make it hug corners, be stable and come out fast.

Gopi Raja Selvakumar, Co-Founder of Bad Boy, said, “My journey began 24 years ago when the captivating mechanics of a radial engine sparked my passion to create something extraordinary.

The vision was clear: to craft the ultimate driving experience, blending the experience of a Formula 1 car with the exhilaration of a superbike, all while maintaining practicality. That vision is now a reality with Bad Boy, and I have no doubt it will deeply resonate with automobile enthusiasts everywhere.”

From what they say, the company seems to have a clear vision for developing this prototype into a strong, lifestyle product in what they say ‘a couple of years’. We also get to know from the statements that the production form will be a premium product. Imagine paying 15 lakh for a swanky electric trike and getting all the attention on your holiday…
