In late 2022, CarBuzz spoke to Jamie Corstorphine, McLaren’s Director of Product Strategy, about the updates on the Artura. He admitted certain components had failed during testing, with a pre-production press test car catching fire. The usual suspects were also mentioned: software malfunctions and supply chain woes caused by the pandemic.
The McLaren Artura is underpinned by the automaker’s next-generation platform for producing supercars. It is also a key model for the brand’s adoption of electrification, set to compete against the likes of the Ferrari 296 GTB.
Both are powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 plug-in hybrid engine, with the McLaren supercar producing a combined output of 671 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. From zero to 60 mph, the automaker claims the vehicle can complete it in 2.9 seconds.
