We have seen a rise in the number of luxury and exotic car owners in India in the last 5-10 years. Most people who can afford to buy these cars are wealthy enough to take care of them as well. However, there are a few who end up buying such expensive cars without realizing the maintenance costs. In such cases, they look for cheap and alternative options to get their cars fixed. Here we have one such image of a Bentley Bentayga SUV worth crores being repaired at a roadside workshop in Mumbai.
The image has been shared by Automobili Ardent on their Facebook page. In this viral picture, we see a white Bentley Bentayga parked in front of a roadside workshop. The post confirms that the image is from Mumbai. In the pictures, we see a person sitting in front of the car with its bonnet open.
If you look at the image carefully, you will notice that the fuel filler cap and the front grille of the SUV are missing. The person sitting in front of the car seems to be checking something inside. There are small scratches visible on the right-hand side of the front bumper. Other than that, everything else looks good.
It doesn’t look like the SUV has faced any mechanical issue. From what we can assume from the image, the person sitting in front of the car is probably preparing to paint the front of the car. The fuel filler cap of the SUV was probably removed so that they can mix the color that matches the OEM shade.
While this may look like a harmless repaint job, there are things that can go wrong here as well. It feels like the driver of the car might have rubbed the SUV against some obstacle without noticing, and he is probably getting it fixed without the owner noticing it.
When a brand like Bentley paints their cars, they follow a proper procedure where the car is painted in a dust-free, temperature-controlled environment.
Paint jobs for high-end cars can be expensive, as they require multiple layers of coats to maintain their sheen for years. However, that is not possible at a roadside workshop. Painting is an art, and not all people employed at roadside workshops know this art. They often paint the car in a place exposed to harsh light and dust, and they don’t follow the proper procedures.
They simply try to get the work done as fast as possible. This is the reason why roadside mechanics do not provide the same finesse as professionals. Another factor that can go wrong while repainting such expensive cars is the shade itself. Many owners opt for custom paint jobs for these cars that have cost them lakhs.
Getting the car repainted at an authorized body shop or service center would cost the owner a lot, even for a small portion. So, to fix these small scratches, they often look for such alternate or cheap options. Is it going to save them some money? Definitely yes. But, we would always advise them to take the vehicle to a workshop that knows how to work on these cars.
