Billionaire businessman Yohan Poonawalla is known for his love of cars. He boasts one of the largest collections of expensive cars in the country. Several videos in the past have showcased Yohan Poonawalla displaying his prized possessions to the world. He is frequently seen traveling in his expensive cars. In one video, Yohan Poonawalla’s convoy of cars, worth Rs 100 crores, was spotted on an airstrip.
The video was shared by CS12 Vlogs on their YouTube channel. It appears that the vlogger spotted these cars at the Aamby Valley Run this year, an annual drag race event eagerly awaited by car and bike enthusiasts in the country. Last year, Yohan Poonawalla made a grand entrance with all his expensive cars and a helicopter. This year was no exception. The footage shows a long convoy of expensive, exotic, rare vintage, and classic cars on the runway.
The first car leading the convoy is a vintage Mercedes-Benz 190 SL roadster, an extremely elegant convertible. Just behind that is a Ferrari, likely the 488 Pista Spyder, though the video was recorded from a distance. Following the Ferrari is a white Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible, brought to India when the Pope from Rome visited.
Behind that is a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo, a special gift from Yohan’s wife and the only Lamborghini in his garage. Following the Lamborghini, there’s a vintage Rolls Royce Phantom II, trailed by a Ferrari 458 Aperta. Yohan Poonawalla is a huge fan of Rolls Royce, Ferrari, and Bentley, a passion evident in his collection. He prefers owning cars with a bit of history; many of the vintage cars in his garage were once owned by the Royal family.
Finding these treasures and maintaining them is a significant task. Toward the end of the convoy, we see modern cars from his collection, including newer generations of Rolls Royce cars like the Phantom Drophead Coupe, Phantom VII Mansory, Mercedes SLS AMG, Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 2, Land Rover Series 1, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, and more. An orange Bentley Betayga luxury SUV, powered by a 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine generating 542 bhp and 770 Nm of peak torque, is also featured.
An Audi RS7 sportback appears toward the end of the convoy, followed by a black current-generation Land Rover Defender 110 luxury SUV. All the cars showcased in the convoy belong to Yohan Poonawalla and easily amount to over Rs 100 crore. The convoy even had the first car that was gifted to Yohan by his family in the 90s – a 1931 model Chevy. Some of these cars are so rare that their value cannot be accurately determined.
Yohan Poonawalla frequently showcases his remarkable collection of cars and actively participates in events. This year, at the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, Indian billionaire and industrialist Yohan Poonawalla was announced as the “Collector of the Year 2023.” He showcased a total of 7 cars, including multicrore Vintage Rolls Royces, Bentleys, and Lincoln cars. Maintaining these cars is always a pain as sourcing parts for older cars is often difficult and that is one of the reason why many people who have such rare cars like to sell it off after a point.
