LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A group of clean energy supporters shared the benefits of using electric vehicles.

Members of EDF Action, a nonprofit that tackles climate change, joined local leaders to talk about the electric vehicle industry. The group touched on how Nevada is one of the top five U.S. states in EV and electric battery manufacturing, with $15 billion in announced investments and more than 12,000 jobs.

Earlier this year, the Biden administration announced new car emissions standards to reduce planet-warming emissions from passenger vehicles.

“I don’t expect that wanting to save our planet will be a reason why people choose their next car or decide that it be electric,” said David Kieve, President, EDF Action. “But collectively if we can spread the good word that there are choices available and that people will be happier and save more money if they choose to do something that also happens to be good for the planet, that is a win-win-win.”

There are 44,000 registered electric vehicles in the state of Nevada. Kelley Blue Book recently reported that EV sales have been slowing down due to cost, driving range and charging infrastructure concerns.
