Driver slams EVs as Tesla CEO called out for not addressing vehicle 'genocide'

TESLA owners have slammed the company as the charging stations have stopped working in places reaching below-zero temperatures.

Due to the recent tundra-like weather in Chicago, electric vehicle owners have been dealing with charging problems, shorter battery life, and declining range.

An X, formerly known as Twitter, user Imani (@imanilfc) reposted a video of a woman calling out Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk for not addressing the problem.

“Elon Musk is a piece of s**t,” the user wrote above the video.

“Like if electric vehicles WORK IN NORWAY, THEN THEY SHOULD WORK IN CHICAGO.”

“This is just Elon being hot garbage as usual. And yeah, don’t buy an electric car in America,” the user continued.

In the video, a woman described the scene of dead Teslas in the Chicago parking lot she was walking in.

The woman said the temperatures were below zero, and she went to Evergreen as it was the nearest charging station.

She successfully made it to the Evergreen charging station with minimal battery left.

However, she said eight or nine of the 10 charging stations were “broken and unable to be utilized.”

She then panned the camera around the parking lot to show the multiple vehicles that “died” and were “unable to be charged.”

“You have people that are stuck out in negative degree weather,” she said.

“You have a tow truck here that is trying to help and support, but again, all of these charting stations no longer work,” she said, pointing the camera to the grid-locked parking lot of electric vehicles.

“You have a bunch of people out here with nothing that they can do,” she said.

X users were outraged at Elon Musk’s lack of urgency regarding fixing this issue.

“Why hasn’t @elonmusk addressed the electric vehicle genocide occurring in the frigid parts of our nation?” said a user.

“I want to say some sassy s**t to him. Instead, I’ll just say f**k electric cars.”

The reason behind the loss of battery? According to Fast Company, the chemical and physical processes in the car battery slow down at lower temperatures.

EVs depend on the battery for both mileage and functions like heating and defrosting.

As a result, the battery’s carrying capacity and range are decreased.

Cold conditions can also reduce the efficiency of gas-powered automobiles, lowering their gas mileage.

But unlike gas-powered cars, which can use the waste heat from their engines to warm their car’s cabin, electric engines don’t produce as much heat as gas-powered cars.

This implies that using the heat inside an electric car depletes the battery that powers the vehicle’s range.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Elon Musk and Tesla for comment.
