Having restored a few Jaguar E-Types, Florida-based ECD Automotive Design has gone back to its roots with a new Land Rover Defender model dubbed the Beach Runner. Based on a Defender 110, the Beach Runner will be limited to just 18 examples per year. The first units will be available this summer, just in time to be driven on beaches across America.

What Is The Beach Runner?
The Beach Runner looks like a Defender, but it’s specifically designed for open-air enjoyment. This example is finished in Porsche Frozen Blue, which looks right at home parked in front of a beach house. Other exterior details include Chawton White heritage side decals, 16-inch painted wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a hood-mounted spare tire, and six-point roll cage.

This is a restoration that the whole family can enjoy, featuring a 2+2+4 seating layout with four inward-facing jump seats in the trunk. A Yakima 21-in-1 accessory kit comes mounted on the hitch, making it easy to bring your gear to the beach. An external air compressor can refill the tires after they have been de-aired, and it can also be used for beach balls or other inflatable toys. After you hop out, the audio system is loud enough to play music for your entire family to enjoy.

As with other ECD builds, aside from the electric swapped ones, the Beach Runner is powered by a GM-sourced LT1 V8 engine, tuned to deliver 455 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power out to a full-time four-wheel-drive system with optional locking differentials. A throaty exhaust note is delivered through a Borla stainless steel exhaust.
Pricing starts at $249,995, which is on the upper end of ECD’s Land Rover Portfolio. Based on its unique features and limited availability, it should sell out quickly.
