EV Charging Test: Genesis GV70 Is Fastest, Chevy Bolt EUV Is Slowest

The GMC Hummer EV SUV’s 170.0-kWh battery is massive, so it’s no surprise it takes a long time to charge. At just over two hours, the Hummer is the slowest-charging EV we’ve tested, taking 20 minutes longer than its pickup-truck sibling, which has an even larger battery. While it reached an impressive peak charge rate of 300 kW, it quickly slowed and averaged a measly 78 kW. Adding 50 miles required 15 minutes of charging, and adding 100 miles took 36 minutes.

Peak Charging Rate: 300 kW
Average Charging Rate: 78 kW
Total Charging Time (10–90%): 129 min
Time to Add 50/100/150 Miles: 15/36/59 min
