At the back, the Carnival retains a light strip that runs the entire length of the rear, but it’s much thinner than before. The perfectly horizontal taillights have been updated with new main light clusters that drop down, giving some serious EV5 and EV9 vibes. To finish it off, Kia garnished the facelifted Carnival with alloys, also inspired by its EV range.
The big question is whether the Carnival is still handsome. We reckon most buyers wanted a Carnival because it’s a minivan that proves that you haven’t entirely given up on life and that you still have some mileage left. Will Kia’s new “Opposites United” design attract or dissuade? Only the sales figures will tell.
It is cool that Kia’s EV design language can be incorporated into existing ICE models, which bodes well for aging models in the range.
