Five Ways Electric Cars Outperform Gas-Powered Cars

Many hardcore car enthusiasts say there’s no place in the industry for an electric performance vehicle. They’ll tell you range anxiety combined with a lack of sound and no manual transmission means a less fun experience versus any normal car. But there’s no arguing electric cars are better—in some ways, at least.

Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained put together a neat video showing us five ways electric powertrains outperform their gasoline-powered equivalents. Currently, there’s no beating gas-powered cars when it comes to quick refueling and aural pleasure, but things like instant torque, no complex transmission, regenerative brakes, precise throttle control, and flexible battery packaging are all superior features exclusive to electric vehicles.

Of course, there’s a lot more to the benefits of electric cars than just those things. Let Fenske break it down in full detail and show you why there’s at least some parts of EVs that are truly better.
