Toyota Fortuner crashes on wet road dash cam video

The increasing trend of people performing stunts and recording videos on public roads in India has become a regular nuisance, and it’s rapidly increasing. Every day, young people are seen glorifying these dangerous activities on popular social media platforms just for views, likes, and shares. Recently, another such incident came online where a man crashed his Toyota Fortuner after speeding on a rainy day. The video showed the car completely toppled on its side, causing chaos on the road.

The video of the incident was shared by a young man on Instagram Reels and was shared with further context by Prateek Singh on their YouTube channel. The video begins with the creator stating that most of us come across videos where people share their dangerous driving acts on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat. These people are sometimes recorded by their friends or themselves, showing themselves at excessive speeds just to increase their pride among people.

The video then shows the most recent incident where a crashed Toyota Fortuner type 2 on a flatbed is seen getting taken away from the accident scene. The video of the crash was shared by the owner of the SUV on his Instagram profile. Following this, the original video where the crash happened in real time was shown. In this clip, we can see that the man in the Toyota Fortuner was driving on a narrow single-lane road on a rainy day at a speed of 100kmph.

We can then see that once he accelerates further, the driver loses control as the SUV hydroplanes on the slippery road. The car then turns and crashes, and the video shows the car toppled on the passenger side. It appeared that the car hit a pole on the side of the road, thankfully not hitting any other vehicle or civilian. The creator mentions that there were no reports of injuries suffered by the man in the video, but it can be inferred that he was fine since he shared a video of the fully customized car back on the road soon after the incident.

The reason for this crash – Hydroplaning

The main reason for this accident was hydroplaning. Hydroplaning occurs when a vehicle’s tires lose traction on a wet road, causing the vehicle to slide or skid uncontrollably on a layer of water. Hydroplaning can be avoided by taking a few precautions while driving in wet conditions. Firstly, it is important to maintain a safe speed appropriate for the road and weather conditions. Slowing down can reduce the risk of hydroplaning by increasing tire contact with the road surface. Secondly, ensuring that your tires are in good condition and have proper inflation can also reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Worn-out tires with low tread depth are more prone to hydroplaning. Thirdly, avoiding sudden maneuvers such as sharp turns or sudden braking can also help prevent hydroplaning. If hydroplaning does occur, it is important to stay calm, ease off the accelerator, and steer in the direction of the skid until traction is regained.
