Genesis Reveals Interior Of The X Speedium Coupe

Genesis revealed the interior of the Genesis X Speedium Coupe at the Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week.

First shown as an exterior model, the X Speedium Coupe concept debuted in April at Genesis House New York. The Genesis design group developed the interior design over the past five months before its big reveal at Pebble Beach.

“The X Speedium Coupe was conceived as an internal design exercise that we later decided to reveal publicly. It was nothing more than a hard model built on our Athletic Elegance design identity,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer at Genesis. “Given the positive reception it received at the event, we chose to complete the concept and present it to discerning attendees at the Pebble Beach Concours. The interior captures the Genesis brand’s “Beauty of White Space” design ethos, which suits various luxury lifestyles and adds to the appeal of the dynamic GT.”

Continuing the theme found in Genesis’ more recent concept cars, the driver-oriented layout features control systems and displays surrounding the driver – in this instance, in an asymmetric format. The instrument panel and floating center console wrap around the cockpit and truly enhance the driving experience.

The cockpit’s curved OLED display visualizes the heritage of high-performance cars, with a center-mounted motor output indicator designed in a “newtro” style – a clear variance from the RPM gauges found in ICE models. The integrated vertical touch display on the right side of the driver’s seat features an optimized UI design, including a start button and multimedia and vehicle control functions.

Other noteworthy interior details include the leather — both material and application. The quilted pattern on the leather seats and the door trim exudes the attitude of a classic sports car. Meanwhile, the steering wheel features cut-off leather salvaged from repurposed car seat materials that have been woven together.

Genesis is also exploring the future of audio experiences through all-new sound architecture. Strategically positioned tweeters, midrange speakers, woofers, and subwoofers provide occupants with an elite sound experience. Quality is at the forefront of the X Speedium’s sound system, as the aluminum tweeters are expertly crafted with a precision milling technique that optimizes acoustic performance.

There’s a genuine possibility that we will never see this car make it to production, but Genesis plans to use the design for its next generation of EVs. The X Speedium Coupe concept is a clear indication that Genesis’s EV transformation is in full swing, with plans for an all-electric future.
