On Monday night, a Cruise self-driving taxi ran over a pedestrian in San Francisco, California. Even worse, the victim was hit by Cruise’s autonomous Chevrolet Bolt after she was run over by a human-driven car, which reportedly escaped the scene. According to Fox News, there were no witnesses, but the autonomous car’s onboard camera caught the incident on video.
Other videos of the aftermath have surfaced on social media. One video on X shows the woman stuck under the Bolt. First responders on the scene had to communicate with Cruise to shut down the robotaxi before getting her out using a hydraulic rescue tool.
The woman reportedly sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition. General Motors-owned Cruise, meanwhile, shared a public statement to recount the incident from its side.
