Boyle hinted that the changes for the Palisade would be equally dramatic but not necessarily similar to the Santa Fe. In other words, expect to see radically different styling, not something that looks like a Defender clone.
This leaves the door open for various fun ideas, a few of which we have rendered. Keeping with the Land Rover theme, we wouldn’t mind if the next Palisade looks more like a Range Rover. Alternatively, we’d love to see Hyundai build a sportier Palisade N-Line or even an N derivative to challenge the Ford Explorer ST.
Regardless of what direction Hyundai chooses for the next Palisade, Boyle feels confident that the Santa Fe isn’t going to cannibalize sales. “I think we’re going to please current customers. And I think we’re going to conquest new customers,” she said about the Santa Fe. “We did research. We wanted an SUV built for America built in America. It has a more muscular stance, which tends to be a little bit more boxy – more in line with what I think Americans expect of an SUV.”
