Indian Youtuber builds Land Rover Defender Series 3 SUV miniature that actually works [Video]

Miniature working models of cars and bikes have been featured on our website in the past. There are several workshops and garages that exclusively work on such projects. Rakesh Babu is one such popular miniature car builder fromĀ  Kerala. He has been making miniature cars for clients for the last couple of years. His first project was a miniature Volkswagen Beetle car that he built from scratch. After that, he has built many more cars and bikes in his garage from scratch. One of the recent project that Rakesh finished was a Land Rover Defender Series 3 SUV for children.

The video has been uploaded by sudus custom on their YouTube channel. Rakesh has built Land Rover Defender Series 3 SUVs in the past however this one is slightly different and gets a Red paint job too. The whole SUV has been designed to look like a miniature version of the Land Rover Series 3 vintage SUV. The dimensions of this SUV were designed around the wheels. Unlike the first project, this Series 3 SUV gets slightly wider tyres and blacked-out steel rims. Just like all other projects from Rakesh Babu, this Land Rover SUV was also built from scratch.

He used metal pipes to build the complete frame. The bending and welding work for this SUV was done at his workshop only. The SUV has a working front suspension set up with upper and lower arm. The rear gets a swingarm set up too. Rakesh Babu has given attention to details and the finished product does look like a Series 3 miniature SUV. The front grille was finished using metal wires and the same was polished to achieve a chrome finish. The body work was done using metal sheets which he cut himself at the workshop. The headlamps used on this Land Rover Series 3 miniature model is from a TVS XL100 scooter. The square portion around the headlamps have been blacked out and that is going well with the overall look of the car.

The front bumper is actually a metal pipe which is painted in black shade. The Red shade looks extremely good on the SUV. As mentioned above, this is a miniature model and is meant for children. The batteries are placed under the driver seat and the batteries power a 750 W electric motor. The motor is connected to the rear wheel of the SUV using a chain drive system and the steering wheel mechanism has been borrowed from a Maruti 800. There are switches installed on the dashboard to shift between forward and reverse gear. There is also an instrument cluster that shows the battery level.

Rakesh Babu can be seen driving this miniature model through private roads and open grounds with two of his friends sitting at the back. The SUV was working without any problem. The Land Rover Series 3 SUV will take around 8Ā  hours to completely charge the batteries. The top-speed of the jeep is under 25 kmph and the maximum driving range of this electric Land Rover Series 3 SUV is around 25-30 km which is enough for small kids.
