We have seen many Thar Roxx modifications and builds ever since Mahindra launched the 5-door SUV in the Indian market. We now have what appears to be the cleanest and the most tasteful mod yet. Someone has given the ROXX Mocha Brown interior before Mahindra even started commencing deliveries of the Mocha variants. Plus, this SUV has also got air-con vents that look better, improved seats and a better audio system. A recent video on YouTube details this SUV…
When Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx earlier this year, it had an Ivory interior colourway. The decision had its obvious drawbacks, even when we knew it would lend a pleasant and roomy feel to the cabin. Many including us journalists shared concerns over the same with Mahindra in feedback.
The Indian manufacturer soon announced a Mocha Brown interior colourway for the ROXX. The catch here was that this would be exclusive to the 4×4 variants of the SUV. The 4×2 owners would still have to be happy with their Ivory cabins. Probably due to it being a later thought, the deliveries of ROXXs with Mocha Brown interior will begin only in January 2025.
We knew the aftermarket folks would soon encash this. Karol Bagh seems to have delivered India’s first ROXX with Mocha Brown interior, even before the carmaker started doing the same.
The vehicle seems to have undergone this cosmetic surgery soon after its official delivery. According to the owner’s requirements, the dashboard was painted in Mocha Brown, and the seats were fitted with new Mocha-themed covers. The front seats of the ROXX do not offer much thigh support in their stock forms. Thus, the owner of this vehicle chose to enhance these with more thigh support and more comfortable bolsters.
The new leather upholstery looks good on the finished vehicle. The fit and quality of work done deserve praise. The paint quality of the dashboard looks great. The guy who did it claims it to last long. Striking contrast with the dashboard colour, the instrument cluster surrounds are now finished in Piano Black. The Mercedes-styled air vents come in Silver colour and get integrated LED ambient lights and surrounds.
The central portion of the dash, where our knees rub, has a rough finish on the stock ROXX. This vehicle gets soft-touch leather trims there. The door pads also get Brown inserts.
This ROXX has also got a major audio upgrade. The stock vehicle comes with a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. The sound quality, however, does not feel too premium. This vehicle switches to premium Alpine speakers. These can be seen being compared to the stock ones. The Components sit at the front and the coaxials at the rear. There is even a subwoofer that sits inside the boot. An Interfire amplifier is being used on this ROXX, and is mounted on the rear seat.
Another mod is the new projector LED fog lamps. The stock units have been replaced with better, more powerful SANSUI LED fog lamps. Furthermore, the tail lamps are swapped with trendy ‘Hour Glass’ pattern lamps. The rear reflectors now house fog lamps as well. The bumper too has received minor tweaks. The top-spec AX7L comes with auto-folding mirrors. The vehicle featured here is a lower spec. Thus aftermarket auto folding mirrors have been added to it.
The wheels on this ROXX haven’t been upgraded. However, we have recently seen some insane wheel swaps where 20 and 22 inchers were installed on the vehicle.
