Although modification is completely illegal in India, we still see a fair number of vehicles on the road with minor modifications. While some car owners opt for cosmetic upgrades to enhance the look, others prefer performance enhancements. We have featured several examples of modified vehicles on our website in the past. Although there is a variety of cars in the market, there are currently no manufacturers offering convertible cars. However, we have a video showcasing a Maruti Dzire sedan that has been converted into a convertible.
The video was uploaded by clbh.anopiya on their Instagram page. It was recorded at a petrol station in an unknown location within the country. Judging by the hoardings in the video, it appears to be North India. The owner of the Dzire sedan convertible can be seen driving the car out of the petrol pump while others look on. It is not everyday that you see a sedan converted into a convertible on Indian roads.
People were amazed to see this modified sedan and were captivated by the car. It seems that the owner had this modification work done at a local workshop. The roof and pillars have been completely removed to achieve a sleek look. When such major modifications are made to the car’s body structure, it compromises the overall stability and build quality. It is unclear whether the car’s structure has been reinforced to accommodate the convertible body style.

Apart from the removed roof and pillars, no other modifications are visible on the car. The car slowly drives away from the petrol station and comes to a stop. In the past, we have seen modifications where the Swift has been converted into a convertible. However, this is probably the first time someone has done this to the Dzire sedan.
The comment section of the video is filled with several humorous comments. The first user wrote, “Gaadi ki roof par aam gir gaye honge, repairing cost of roof would be more than cutting it down” (The roof of the sedan must have gotten a dent after mangoes fell on it. The owner must have come up with the solution when he saw that the cost of repairing the dent is more than simply chopping it off). Another user commented, “AMG E53 from Meesho App.”
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire sedan seen in the video is the current generation version. It is currently one of the most popular sub-4 meter sedans in the country, competing with cars like the Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor in its segment. The Dzire sedan seen in the video is the diesel version, which is no longer available in the market. Maruti Suzuki Dzire is currently offered with a 1.2-liter Dualjet naturally aspirated petrol engine and is available with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox option. Maruti also offers a company-fitted CNG version of the same in the market.
