Nitin Gadkari, the former Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, is one of the most popular politicians in India. He is renowned for his contributions to India’s infrastructure and automotive sector. He is also a great advocate for alternative-fueled vehicles. So naturally, he owns a few unique cars in his personal collection. So today, we thought we should tell you about Nitin Gadkari’s car collection.
What’s inside Nitin Gadkari’s garage?
1994 Hindustan Ambassador
The first car in his garage, which is also one of his most prized possessions, is his Hindustan Ambassador. This sedan was often dubbed the “King of Indian Roads,” and along with Gadkari’s garage, it holds a special place in Indian automotive history as well.
Gadkari’s 1994 Ambassador was declared by him during his election nomination filing. This iconic sedan became popular because of its solid build quality and spacious interior. It was the preferred choice for government officials and taxi operators alike. The 1994 model falls within the Mark 4 Series, and it featured a 1.5L petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine.
2016 Honda CR-V

In his election nomination filing, he also declared that he owns a 2016 Honda CR-V. This SUV, which was not a very popular choice amongst SUV buyers, had very niche buyers. It came powered by a 2.4L i-VTEC petrol engine producing 185 bhp.
The CR-V offered a very smooth ride and was fairly equipped with features. It included features such as a multi-angle rearview camera, the Honda Sensing safety suite, and others.
Isuzu D-Max
Apart from the CR-V, Nitin Gadkari also declared his Isuzu D-Max in his filings. This SUV is known for its durability and versatility. This pickup truck comes with a range of diesel engines, including 1.9L and 3.0L options. The D-Max is used for both commercial and personal use. The exact car owned by Nitin Gadkari has not been seen with him on any occasion.
Toyota Mirai
One of the most unique cars in Nitin Gadkari’s car collection is the Toyota Mirai. This distinct sedan stands out as the first and currently the only hydrogen-powered car in the country. Gadkari took delivery of it in order to highlight his commitment to green energy. The second-generation Mirai, introduced in 2021, is built on Toyota’s TNGA platform.
It features a hydrogen fuel cell system that powers a 4JM electric motor. In total, it generates a maximum power of 182 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The Mirai boasts a range of 647 km on a full tank of hydrogen. Despite the current lack of hydrogen refueling infrastructure in India, Gadkari is very bullish on the future of this sedan in India.
Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel
Apart from the Toyota Mirai, Nitin Gadkari, in order to promote flex-fuel vehicles, was also given a Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel. This hybrid MPV is capable of running on both 100 percent petrol and 100 percent ethanol. For those who may not be aware, ethanol, sourced locally from farmers, reduces production costs and emissions.
Gadkari, in the last few years, has been promoting ethanol as a viable fuel option. He is also bullish on this alternative fuel as it highlights his commitment to supporting local agriculture and reducing environmental impact. The Innova Hycross, with its hybrid powertrain and flex-fuel technology, provides better fuel efficiency and lower running costs.
