Kia K3 Debuts As Possible Forte Successor

Kia just revealed the new K3 (pictured below in GT-Line trim) in Mexico City, and it will likely be sold in the United States as the next Kia Forte.

As with the current Forte, the new K3 will be built in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Kia may change the name to K3 in the US market, just as the company did with the K5 (formerly Optima). The Forte also goes by Shuma in China and Cerato in South America, Australia, and other markets.

The existing Forte has been around since 2018, so a redesign is overdue. The K3 embraces a unique version of Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy with a fastback-style silhouette. It also sits slightly higher off the ground, likely to pander to the crossover crowd. The reinterpreted Tiger Nose grille, LED daytime running lights, and sporty GT-Line front fascia give this affordable sedan a premium feel. The GT-Line gets larger air intakes, 17-inch wheels, and dual exhaust.

EDIT: This Mexican market K3 replaces the Rio, and the US-market model will likely be larger.
