Mahindra Thar 4X4 stuck while off roading in deep snow: Isuzu V-Cross to the rescue [Video]

Off-roading activities are gaining popularity among 4×4 owners in India. Recently, several SUV owners have come forward to explore the capabilities of their vehicles which they don’t usually do on an everyday basis. There are several SUV owner groups that organize small off-road trips to help owners get used to their vehicles and explore the other side. In most cases, these groups are led by experienced off-roaders who also have recovery equipment.

Here, we have a video from DCV Expeditions featuring several SUVs, including Mahindra Thar and Fortuner, off-roading in the snow. The video demonstrates how important recovery equipment is for such trips. The video was probably recorded a few months ago when it was still snowing in the mountain regions of North India. The vlogger, along with his friends, went out on a snow drive. The vlogger had a well-equipped Mahindra Thar, while others were driving SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV700 AWD, Mahindra Scorpio N 4×4, Isuzu V-Cross, Isuzu MU-X, and other SUVs.

While exploring the area, the group drove into an area filled with snow. Initially, they were all having fun, but slowly SUVs started getting stuck one after the other. Even the vlogger, who was driving the off-road spec Mahindra Thar, got stuck. The soil under the snow was extremely loose, and whenever a vehicle got stuck, the natural instinct of the driver was to put in more power to see if the SUV could drive out itself. However, this was making things difficult as the tires were getting dug inside the soil.

Thar stuck in snow getting recovered

When the vlogger found that his SUV was stuck, he asked for help from an Isuzu V-Cross that was parked next to him. Luckily, the pickup was not stuck, and he pulled his winch out and attached it to the V-Cross. He asked the V-Cross driver to drive the car a bit backward and then winch the Thar out. The Mahindra Thar started using the winch, and slowly the SUV came out of the obstacle. It should be noted that the driver here used the correct technique to bring his SUV out. He had engaged 4L, and the throttle input was almost zero. By accelerating in such conditions, the SUV would get stuck in the soil even more.

Once the Mahindra Thar was out, the vlogger started driving the car to help other drivers. Using his winch and sand trax mat, they started recovering vehicles. There was an older generation Mahindra Thar in the group, which was also helping in the recovery. The Mahindra XUV700 AWD variant was also rescued by the Thar. The all-new Scorpio N, which was part of the group, slipped off the road and got stuck in snow. This SUV was also recovered, and at the end, an Isuzu MU-X SUV was also recovered by the Thar. Most of the SUVs that got stuck in snow were recovered by the Mahindra Thar. This video is a perfect example that shows why it is important to have backup or recovery vehicles on such trips. If a vehicle was driving alone in such terrains, it would have been an extremely dangerous situation for the driver if the SUV got stuck. Similarly, backup vehicles also had recovery equipment, which helped them recover the stuck vehicles.
