Maserati announced an official partnership with energy solutions provider Future Energy to help provide an EV charging infrastructure as well as the software to automate and manage the chargers and energy use for the Italian luxury performance brand.
Maserati, Stellantis’ only luxury brand, says that the Troy, Michigan-based Future Energy has already begun working with Maserati dealerships in North America in order to make sure that all dealers are ready for the switch to selling and servicing electric vehicles.
“Through our partnership, we are working with all Maserati dealerships in North America to integrate comprehensive EV readiness solutions to ensure all dealers are prepared for the transition to electric vehicles,” said Kurt Isenberger, program director at Future Energy.
The partnership coincides with the upcoming launches of the GranTurismo Folgore Coupe and Grecale Folgore SUV. Last year, Maserati CEO Davide Grasso announced the brand would produce electrified versions of all its vehicles by 2025, and phase out gasoline-fueled engines entirely by 2030 as a part of Stellantis’ “Dare Forward 2030” plan, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Watts coming from Maserati
The first steps in Maserati’s drivetrain conversion is already occurring.
In May, the Italian luxury brand announced will end manufacturing its 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged 90-degree V-8 engine used in the Ghibli sedan and Levante SUV in late 2023, as the first of Maserati’s new EVs arrive.
They will be sold under the Folgore (FOLE-Gore-Ay) sub-brand, which means “Lightning” in Italian. The Folgore EV system was created using new technology from the brand’s FIA Formula E all-electric racing experience and is based on 800-volt technology.
The GranTurismo Folgore, a two-door, four-seater sports car is the brand’s first EV, and is powered by a 92.5-kWh battery pack and rated at 760 horsepower. Despite EV powertrain, designers were able to maintain a low of 53.3 inches by shaping the battery pack in form of a T. According to Maserati, the GranTurismo Folgore uses 800-volt technology to enable fast charging up to 270 kW, adding 62 miles of range in five minutes.
The brand’s next EV, the Grecale Folgore SUV, arrives in a couple months, a battery-electric version of the Grecale SUV that debuted in 2022. With motors on each axle, the EV is expected to generate 493 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from a 105-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
Initially, Folgore vehicles will employ conventional Maserati platforms. Longer term, the automaker is looking to develop its own EV skateboard platform.
That said, it seems as if Maserati’s dealer network is ready as the brand seeks to bring Italian passion for performance and luxury to a battery-electric future.
