If you have ever traveled on an expressway, you know how it feels to finally push your car to the limits and comfortably cruise at triple-digit speeds. However, there have been cases where people get overwhelmed, lose control of their cars at high speeds on such highways, and end up in accidents. We all know how risky Indian highways and expressways are. We have now come across one such accident where a Mercedes AMG saloon driven by a minister’s son crashed on the expressway at high speed, and he walked away with only minor injuries.
The video was shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The video was probably shared with him by one of his followers. The vlogger mentions that the accident happened on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh and that the person driving the car is said to be the son of a minister from Uttar Pradesh.
The person has been identified as Abhishek Gupta, son of cabinet minister Nand Gopal Nandi, and daughter-in-law Krishnika. According to the video, Abhishek, along with his wife, was traveling on the expressway. The couple was traveling towards Lucknow in their Mercedes AMG E53 sedan.
It is said that the sedan was traveling at high speed when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. Abhishek did try to regain control, but sadly they couldn’t do much, and the sedan crashed into the side railing of the highway. The sedan is completely damaged from the front. The bonnet, bumper, wheels, and alloys are all damaged.
The exact reason for the accident is not mentioned in the video. However, it does mention that the road was quite wet when the accident happened. This could be one of the reasons why the car lost control. At high speeds, the chances of aquaplaning also increase, which could easily make you lose control of the car.
What is aquaplaning? It happens when a thin layer of water forms between the tire and the road. When this happens, the tire, which is the only point of contact with the road, stops responding to steering feedback, and the car loses control. The risk of aquaplaning increases as the speed of the vehicle increases.
It can happen on wet roads if you are driving at high speed or even when you drive through a pool of water on the road because the treads on the tire are not getting enough time to push the water out and maintain grip. The only way to regain control in such situations is by lifting your foot off the accelerator and letting the car slow down.
The front and rear are both damaged from the crash. Even the rear wheels are damaged. Thankfully, the cabin of the sedan looks intact, and both the driver and passenger in the car are safe.
The E53 AMG seen in the video is a 4-door performance sedan powered by a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder, twin-turbocharged petrol engine that generates 430 Bhp and 520 Nm of peak torque. The sedan costs Rs 1.06 crore, ex-showroom. This high-speed crash clearly shows the build quality of the sedan and how airbags and other safety features helped the occupants walk away from the accident with only minor injuries.
