That was back in March. Now, the adapters are shipping, but a bit more slowly than expected. According to Detroit Free Press, the supplier can’t quite match pace with demand.”The supply is constrained,” said Ford spokesman Marty Gunsberg talking to Detroit Free Press.
A Supplier Issue
The adapters are shipping at a steady rate, but people are still making reservations to get their free adapter. Those who may be waiting longer than anticipated are receiving emails, so they know they’re still in the queue, but that it’s just going to take a while longer.

Ford is posting strong sales for the Mustang Mach-E these days. It had its best month ever in March and year-to-date sales were up 88 percent to 18,737 vehicles through May. That makes it the second best-selling electric SUV, right behind the Tesla Model Y.
More Places To Charge
The adapter lets Ford EV owners get a taste of the Tesla life with the ability to use Tesla fast chargers. This more than doubles the number of fast chargers open to Ford EV owners nationwide. With summer just getting started, along with the accompanying road trips, this is when those adapters will really come in handy.

It’s a first come, first served situation as far as shipping the adapters. The customer’s order status page shows the expected delivery date, but if you order one now, there’s going to be a wait. It’s estimated that around 150,000 people qualify to get the free adapter. Hopefully, those at the back of the line weren’t banking on using the Tesla charging network anytime soon.
