New Jaguar E-Type Roadster Restomod Refuses To Go Electric

The Helm E-Type Roadster takes a classic car and gives it a full complement of modern technology and manufacturing techniques. The latter includes 3D printing of some parts, while luxury and convenience are accounted for with LCD displays, parking sensors, inertia seatbelts, and even soft-close doors and a heated windshield. Beyond this, the paint and metalwork rely on modern manufacturing techniques to provide longevity the original factory models could never hope to match.

The chassis is a steel-reinforced monocoque that uses at least 30% of the original, while body panels like the hood and doors are handmade, strengthened aluminum items.

At each corner, bespoke brake assemblies include six-piston front stoppers and vented discs at all corners. Adjustable suspension and uprated anti-roll bars enhance handling, while the steering has been upgraded to an electronic speed-sensitive power setup.

Best of all, the 3.8-liter inline-six – which can be bought new from Jaguar Classic – retains its place under the hood, tuned to deliver 300 horsepower and featuring Jenvey heritage ITBs and an alloy cooling system.
