At 76 km/h (47.2 mph) test – a tad short of the benchmark speed – the Taycan completed it like a child’s play. After ramping it up to 78 km/h (48.5 mph), the EV showed a little understeer, but no cones were knocked over.
However, we started to see the EV hit cones when the entry speed was raised to 79 km/h (49.1 mph). At this speed, the weight transferred during cornering was too much for the vehicle to keep together. The lighter and low-slung Porsche sibling, the 718 Boxster, handled this speed like a champ, proving weight can pose safety risks on the road.
Regardless, the test driver thought the Taycan did well in its moose test. He also highlighted the rear axle steering that helped the vehicle produce better results.
