It didn’t take long until the Mercedes’s most outrageous project yet showed up in a video. It is the Project Maybach off-roader coupe with an external roll cage and dual-tone body, starring in Drake’s latest video, “Sticky”.
Sticky is Drake’s latest single off his “Honestly, Nevermind” album. Drake shows up by the lakeside wearing fishing gear. The Project Maybach x Virgil Abloh is part of the prop. Drake also posted a photo of the concept parked by the lakeside and hidden under a car cover (see post below).
For those unfamiliar with the bizarre silhouette of the concept, it seems next to impossible to guess what is underneath.
Mercedes unveiled the outrageous concept last December, at the Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida. Virgil Abloh never got to see it. Louis Vuitton’s creative director passed away on November 28, at the age of 41. When revealing it, Mercedes described it as a two-seater battery-electric off-road coupe, combining Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels and distinctive attachments.
The model stretches for 5.9 meters (236.2 inches), taking up a lot of space. A lot of space it should provide on board as well, in the futuristic cabin.
All of these are in Drake’s latest video, directed by Theo Skudra, a visual artist who has been working with him for years. The four-minute video reveals the lifestyle of the rapper.
Drake, a Mercedes enthusiast for years
Drake has reportedly been the owner of several Mercedes-AMG-branded model. So it is only normal to go over the top with the jaw-dropping Project Maybach. Over the years, his garage has hosted a Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet and a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, among others. Because, according to the “Sticky” song, “You know how sticky it get” once you get your hands on an AMG.
The video dropped on August 2nd and is currently inching closer to three million views.
