This is the same engine currently being used by corporate cousin brand Jeep, so it makes sense for it to receive additional use. If the new inline-six is indeed coming to the 1500 full-size truck, then it could replace the aging 5.7-liter Hemi V8 which is rated at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. As much as people love the Hemi, the Hurricane is considerably more powerful and fuel efficient.
In the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, for example, it produces 510 hp and 500 lb-ft. There’s no guarantee it’ll have the same power in the 1500 but at least we know the power is there if Ram wants. What we can already confirm is that the mystery “new force” will not be another EV model because, well, the powertrain sound in the teaser is definitely ICE. In fact, it sounds awfully like an inline-six.
