Sometime early this year, Rimac will show off a highly autonomous robotaxi, with plans for commercial operation by 2026. However, this will occur under a separate name, as the robotaxi division of the company (with backing from Kia) will operate as Project 3 Mobility. Reports of Kia’s support make sense since Rimac and Hyundai are working together on sports cars.
Speaking with Autocar, founder and CEO Mate Rimac said that this robotaxi project aims to “change the lives of more people” by making electromobility more easily accessible. According to the publication, this robotaxi is said to be able to drive entirely without human input and will work together with the accompanying infrastructure that Rimac is currently developing, including chargers, storage hubs, and parking spaces.
