Stellantis Taking Drastic Measures To Counter UAW Strike Pressure

It’s also interesting to note that Stellantis is currently in the process of seeking permission to sell 18 of its facilities in the USA. According to a report from The Detroit News, Stellantis doesn’t want to leave its headquarters in Auburn Hills or any of its assembly facilities behind. But selling these facilities would allow Stellantis to possibly add billions to its bank account, keeping the company stable.

It would be cheaper to simply lease the higher-performing facilities, like the plant in Toledo, Ohio. This facility builds the Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler, and Wrangler 4xe. The latter is the best-selling plug-in hybrid in America, so Stellantis would definitely want to keep using this facility.

Along the same lines, it could cut ties with facilities that produce engines that are no longer relevant to the brand as it enters the EV age. However, it appears that combustion-powered muscle (and other) cars are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Regardless, Stellantis is not the only one feeling the strike pressure.
