There’s no doubt that large cars pose a greater risk to other road users, weigh more than regular cars, and take up more space. They also use more resources in both production and operation. We’re not disputing any of that, so you could say that, in a way, we agree with Tyre Extinguishers’ assessment that SUVs being removed from urban environments would be good for health and safety reasons.
But to destroy tires that are otherwise perfect doesn’t seem to align with saving the planet. These activists have intentionally increased the carbon footprint of every vehicle they attack. Moreover, many of their attacks are carried out on privately owned cars, and that puts unnecessary economic strain on already-stressed households. And what if somebody ends up driving a car that has been targeted by the group and gets injured, or worse?
And what if I’m married with five kids? Is my seven-seat Honda Pilot still too much for the inner city, where my children go to school and my partner and I go to work?
