“I’ve been doing rentals for a while,” said Morales. “Usually, I’m concerned when it’s a younger guy. He’s a lot older, he knows about cars, he’s a teacher, so I’m like, ‘Ok, my car’s in good hands.'” But when the car was returned three days later, Morales got “a feeling that maybe this guy was racing this car,” he said. After some digging, Morales found images and videos confirming the same license plate and aftermarket wheels on the car being proudly campaigned by members of the student group.
“The funny this is they were bragging about winning this competition that she did,” said Morales about the student who raced his car.
That means that Ditch didn’t restrict access to the car, and Morales surely only signed up for Ditch to drive his car. Then there’s the matter of damages incurred by participation in the event, which Morales says totals nearly $4,000.
