Tesla Lawsuit Claims Software Update Reduced Range

The third complaint is Tesla’s insistence that its batteries last a lifetime. In its Impact Report, Tesla said its batteries only degrade by 12% after a lifetime of use. It’s important to note that there may be some confusion due to the definition, which wouldn’t be a first for the controversial EV maker. Tesla considers a vehicle’s lifetime to be approximately 200,000 miles in the USA and 150,000 miles in the UK. To the owner, “lifetime” may mean the informal definition of the word, which is basically just a very long time.

The fourth allegation is Tesla’s alleged knowledge that software upgrades do lead to a decrease in miles. According to Hagens Berman, there are various public complaints on forums and blogs about his issue, so Tesla must know about it.

Finally, Tesla was dragged to court for this issue in 2019, and it eventually settled. The lawyers claim that this proves the EV maker has known about this issue for several years.
