Tesla Pulls Well Over the Curb In Order To Charge
A Tesla Model Y was seen recently driving well over the curb at a Tesla Supercharger, so much so that HALF of the vehicle was over the curb.
This was done so that it could charge and have the cable reach the charging port on the back. This is a problem that Tesla needs to solve…
With the Cybertruck starting to ramp up in production – in fact, over 80 Cybertrucks were seen today at Giga Texas today – Tesla is going to have more vehicles with trailers visit their Superchargers.

The Cybertruck is only going to add to this problem, but also, Tesla opening up their Superchargers to other EV makers is going to do the same thing.
Anyone who is towing anything is going to have a big problem at Tesla Superchargers with the way they are currently designed. The charging stall is at the end of the parking space and the cable just isn’t that long.

Tesla Needs a Solution For This
One charging station that handles pull through charging just fine is a luxury Mercedes-Benz charging station. They have long cables with a pulley system and even stalls dedicated to vehicles pulling a trailer.
Tesla is also building out their V4 Superchargers which have immersion cooled cables that are longer – but they still don’t solve the problem as the length of the cable required – as well as the parking space just aren’t there even at the new Supercharger stations.

One solution to this is to make longer parking spaces at Superchargers and put longer cables in the stalls – or at least designate a couple stalls at each Supercharger Station as “pull through” which would also benefit CCS charging vehicles towing, using the Magic Dock.
Another solution is to build the charging station at the front of the parking space. This runs the risk of being run into, however, Tesla can simply widen the parking spaces by a couple feet. This will use up more space and not be as efficient, though.
I think an elegant and easy solution is to simply build a charge port on the front of a Tesla vehicle. That way the vehicle can pull right up to the charging stall and plugin with a trailer behind the Tesla vehicle. Simple. Easy.
The only problem is that every Tesla vehicle would have to be retrofitted, and new vehicles would need to be designed with two charge ports on the front and back, or with just one charge port in the front. It would require Tesla users to adapt, but I don’t think it would be too hard. Tesla could just build a couple stalls with longer parking spaces as well.
Why doesn’t Tesla just build a charge port on the front of its vehicles and add a couple long charging stalls and solve this problem that way?
