The Jeep heyday has started to die down, with sales slowing 6 percent compared with last year. We can’t say exactly what the cause is, whether it’s encroaching competition from the likes of the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport or because of the discontinuation of the Cherokee compact SUV, but we imagine it’s a combination of factors impeding Jeep’s progress. The Wrangler, Gladiator, and Wagoneer models were all down, and even the high-volume Grand Cherokee’s lift couldn’t help the slide. It’s still the cash cow of the Stellantis conglomerate, but Jeep will need some sort of boost in 2024 to stop the rot.
