The Cheapest V8 Trucks You Can Buy In 2024

Contrary to popular belief, the V8 pickup is far from dead in 2024. There are still quite a few options if you want to get yourself into something with a bed and a low V8 rumble under the hood, and many aren’t even that expensive. That is to say, if you consider a $40,000 truck to be budget friendly; we do live in 2024 after all. We’ve compiled a list of the 10 cheapest pickup trucks that you can purchase in 2024 with a V8 engine – and there’s something for everyone on the list.

Almost every truck we mention here is domestic, although one import did make the list, and no, it’s unfortunately not the Toyota Tundra with the 5.7-liter V8. We’ve included incentives in our calculations – although it only applies to a few trucks – to show just how darn cheap some of these models can be. While these trucks won’t have many of the bells and whistles, they’ll treat you as nicely as something almost double their price when it comes to power and practicality.

Trucks on this list are ranked from most expensive to cheapest, based on MSRP plus destination and including incentives. Pricing information has been sourced from each of the automaker’s official websites.

10 2024 Nissan Titan

The Nissan Titan is the lone import to make the list, and its place comes with a big asterisk. When doing our research, we were surprised to find out just how expensive the Titan had gotten. We quickly realized that this truck is so expensive that you can build out a Silverado 3500 HD, Sierra 3500 HD, Ford F-350, or Ram 3500 for a few hundred dollars cheaper than a brand new base-model Nissan Titan. Given we already include the heavy-duty versions of these nameplates on the list, we wanted to show off the Nissan as the lone alternative option, even if that option will be discontinued at the end of the year. Domestic truck dominance is real.

9 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD

The Sierra 2500 HD is a towing aficionado, even with a 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine. The base pro trim comes well-equipped, with features like LED headlights, a trailering package, remote keyless entry, and much more to make it a great buy all around. While the real towing power is going to come with the upgraded diesel engine, the base V8 will still be a great workhorse that will be perfect for many owners’ needs, and the GMC has the added benefit of looking much better than its Silverado counterpart.

8 2024 Ram 2500

The base Ram 2500 isn’t a flashy truck whether you’re looking at it from the exterior or interior, but we do have to admire the wide variety of color options available for a modest price (there are over 20 choices.) It isn’t going to be as capable on or off-road as Power Wagon or Longhorn models, but it will get you and whatever you’re towing there and back in one piece. The Hemi V8 is a classic and it’s powerful, though for real towing you’re going to want the Cummins.

7 2024 Ford F-250

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a powerhouse that looks good in blue, and is a stalwart in the heavy-duty industry with proven performance and dependability. The base XL trim is rather spartan inside and out, coming with only the essentials to get the job done. While this is fine for fleets, we can’t help but feel the average consumer may want a little more in terms of standard features. Still, plenty of options are available if you’re willing to pay, but at that point, it’s probably worth just moving up a trim or two.

6 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD

We can’t say we’re surprised the Silverado 2500 HD comes a smidge cheaper than the Sierra, as GM has to protect its interests given they’re the same trucks underneath. The Silverado is a proven workhorse and fan favorite, even though it’s myriad of faces can be very much hit-or-miss depending on which trim you choose. Fortunately, the base V8 is a beast with 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque on tap, and the plethora of standard features make it a pretty reasonable buy.

5 2024 Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 is a good-looking truck and has been since the newest generation debuted, and those looks translate well even to the base model Tradesman. As with most base model trucks, the interior isn’t much to talk about, so let’s get to the performance. The truck comes standard with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, and opting for the 5.7-liter Hemi adds $3,045 to the base price. Most everything is optional, and currently, the company is offering up to $2,500 off the purchase of one of these trucks by the end of July.

4 2024 Ram 1500 Classic

The Ram 1500 Classic has been the Ace up the brand’s sleeve for the past six years, silently selling along the newer generation in droves with little fanfare. It proves that just because a generation may be a bit outdated, it doesn’t mean it’s bad, and it can offer extreme value. This is the only vehicle on the list that’s offered in Quad Cab, as it probably doesn’t sell well enough to justify a regular cab. The 5.7-liter V8 is a $2,545 option and the transmission is another $500. Right now, the company is offering up to $4,000 off, perhaps because it may not return for another year.

3 2024 GMC Sierra 1500

GMC’s regular full-size pickup is a trooper with an interior that is easily reminiscent of its older siblings. If you want a V8 Sierra 1500, you need to opt for the long bed, and then you have to add it as a $1,595 option, but that nets you 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, which will be enough for most drivers’ needs, especially only when powering the rear wheels. You’re choosing this over the Chevy is only going to come down to personal preference, but just know for the next month GMC is offering over $3,000 off a new truck for qualified buyers, so you could get yourself a great deal if you act fast.

2 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

There’s not much to say about this Chevrolet that hasn’t already been said about its GMC sibling. The interior isn’t much to write home about, but we’re willing to forgive that more with a Chevy badge – and it comes with the budget-friendly price. The V8 adds $1,595 to the purchase price of the Silverado 1500, but on this model colors aren’t an extra charge, so go crazy and pick the color that best suits you. Finally, Chevy is offering up to $3,500 off the purchase of a new truck by the end of July.

1 2024 Ford F-150

The number one cheapest, V8-powered truck in America in 2024 is the Ford F-150, which costs just $38,960. The cool thing about the F-150 is the base, regular cab XL trim strictly comes with a V8, meaning if you want an Ecoboost you’ll have to pay more. Since this is mainly a fleet truck, we imagine customers resoundingly spring for the V8, but that makes this truck a heck of a deal. Additionally, it’s only available with the brand’s mid-size bed length, making it the closest thing to a stubby, V8-powered street truck you can buy new. Now, that’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask us.
