The Emira Is The Most Powerful Four-Cylinder Lotus Yet

The Lotus family has welcomed a new member that’s turning heads globally – the four-cylinder Emira, the most powerful four-cylinder sports car in the brand’s illustrious history. This marvel of engineering has not only solidified Lotus’s excellence in the sports car arena but has set an unprecedented benchmark for its nimble and agile four-cylinder sports cars, although Lotus has announced that the Emira will be its last gasoline-powered car before transitioning to electric vehicles. At the heart of the Emira is a state-of-the-art 360 bhp mid-mounted engine, making it the most robust four-cylinder sports car Lotus has ever created. Coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), the vehicle provides swift, seamless shifts. The Emira gives drivers the liberty to choose between manual control for a raw driving experience or the convenience of automatic gear changes.

With a stunning 0-60 mph acceleration of less than 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph, the Emira doesn’t just promise performance—it delivers it. Advanced features such as the twin-scroll turbocharger, a combined direct and port fuel injection system, and a variable valvetrain equip the Emira with an unparalleled blend of power, responsiveness, and efficiency. Designed to keep Lotus’s rich heritage alive, the Emira echoes the legacy of iconic models such as the Elise, Esprit, Europa, Elan, and Elite, with the Emira being the pinnacle with the most power a four-cylinder Lotus has ever had.

Mike Johnstone, Group Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, Lotus, reflects on the Emira’s success and the excitement surrounding the new addition to the range. “The Emira V6 has already proved incredibly successful, with many thousands of orders received from around the world. Now, with the four-cylinder Emira joining the range, we’re adding a new dimension to the car’s breadth of capability and appeal.”

Designed for high-performance applications, the Emira’s engine features advanced technologies developed by Lotus. Along with the new intake and exhaust systems, the Emira has a unique in-house calibration, ensuring an impressive balance of power, torque, and efficiency across its operating range. The Emira is built at the Chapman Production Centre (CPC) at Hethel, UK, a testament to Lotus’s continued investment in its UK facilities. Lotus customers in the UK have the option of collecting their Emira from Hethel, providing an exclusive opportunity to tour the CPC assembly halls where their car was made.

The new four-cylinder Emira is more than a car; it’s a testament to Lotus’s commitment to pioneering automotive excellence, and it being the last gasoline-powered model that Lotus will offer, both the four-cylinder Emira and its V6-powered counterpart are sure to leave automotive enthusiasts around the world wanting more.
