The Ford Mustang Roars into the 2024 Racing Season at Daytona's 24HR Race

Ford’s iconic Mustang leads the charge in the 2024 sports car racing season at the legendary Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Ford is revving up excitement as it leads the new Mustang into the 2024 global sports car racing scene, starting with the adrenaline-pumping Rolex 24 at Daytona. Ford Performance is all set to kick off its sports car racing season with the Mustang as the star of the show. The legendary endurance event at Daytona will see the Mustang in full force, with the Mustang GT3 race cars competing for victory in the GTD Pro and GTD classes of the headline Rolex 24. Notably, the Mustang GT4 is also hitting the tracks in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the IMSA VP Racing Sports Car Challenge. These track monsters are the brainchildren of a joint effort by Ford Performance and their long-time racing partner, Multimatic Motorsports.

In the GTD Pro category, a two-car, factory-backed GT3 team will be fielded by Ford and Multimatic, with top drivers like Chris Mies, Mike Rockenfeller, and Harry Tincknell steering the No. 64 Mustang. The No. 65 car will see Le Mans champions Joey Hand, Dirk Müller, and Frédéric Vervisch at the helm, celebrating Mustang’s 60th anniversary in style. Adding to the excitement, customer Proton Competition is entering its GT3 in the GTD Class, with a skilled team of drivers for the No. 55 car. Additionally, Daytona will witness the launch of the all-new Mustang GT4 in the IMSA series by two customer teams, promising thrilling performances. The Rolex 24 at Daytona is a significant event for Ford, a stage where it has seen numerous victories, including its first win in 1966 and the recent triumph of the Ford GTLM in 2017. As the engines roar to life on January 27, all eyes will be on the Mustangs, ready to write a new chapter in Ford’s illustrious racing history.
