The World's Most Powerful Naturally Aspirated Hypercar Arrives Next Month

Key Takeaways

  • Nilu27 teases the new V12 engine that will power its first hypercar.
  • The naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter will deliver more than 1,000 horsepower and revs up to 11,000 rpm
  • The automaker says it will sound like a naturally aspirated Formula 1 car.

The hypercar world is getting ready to welcome a new marque into its ranks. The Nilu27 brand will unveil its new hypercar at Pebble Beach next month but, in the meantime, we’ve been treated to a teaser video of the magnificent powertrain.

Nilu27 has confirmed that its first car will be powered by a bespoke 6.5-liter V12. The Hartley-developed naturally-aspirated motor will produce more than 1,000 horsepower and emit “a glorious, NA F1-inspired soundtrack.” Based on the teaser video, Nilu isn’t exaggerating. The motor roars, free from any exhaust trickery or active sound technology. We’re guessing it will sound even better in person.

Most Powerful Naturally Aspirated Production Engine?

The automaker hasn’t said much else, but there are a few interesting details to unpack here. For a start, Nilu says the 6.5-liter V12 develops 1,000+ hp. While that’s not a specific figure, that means the new hypercar could have the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the world.

That title currently belongs to the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which, like the Nilu, is powered by a 6.5-liter V12. The Cosworth-developed motor doesn’t rely on turbocharging but makes use of a hybrid system that produces a combined output of 1,160 hp. Without electrical assistance, the V12 still musters up a healthy 1,000 hp. While impressive, Nilu will likely surpass Aston Martin in having the most powerful N/A engine.

What Else Do We Know?

Aside from these details, Niul has also said the new hypercar will have “lots of RPM.” Previous teasers have shown us that the car will have an 11,000-rpm redline, so the V12 will have a distinctive sound, to say the least. It’s worth noting that the GMA T.50 revs up to 12,100 rpm.

Sasha Selipanov’s new hypercar brand is called the Nilu27, and its first hypercar roars.

Aside from the magnificent engine, the vehicle will be equipped with five-spoke center-locking wheels wrapped in Michelin Cup 2 R rubber. The company has described these sticky tires as the “obvious choice” for the car, adding that they “are not only the best at what they do, they also add to the powerful stance and presence of the Nilu hypercar.” Carbon ceramic brakes also appear to be part of the setup. We don’t have much longer to wait now, with Monterey Car Week scheduled for August 9-18.
