Mahindra Bolero is a very popular utilitarian MUV from the manufacturer in Indian market. It is probably the oldest model in Mahindra’s line up and even after so many years, the Bolero is still performing pretty well in terms of sales. This is one of the reason why Mahindra has not made many changes and has updated the Bolero to meet the new emission and safety norms. There are several modification options available for Bolero in the market and we have featured some of them on our website too. Here we have a video of a Mahindra Bolero that has been completely modified into a Land Rover Defender.
The video has been uploaded by Dayakaran vlogs on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger shows a Mahindra Bolero 4×4 that has been neatly modified to look like a Land Rover Defender. We have seen in the past that people in Punjab love there jeeps and SUVs and most of these modification garages are based out of Punjab only. The workshop which worked on this project is called Big Daddy modifiers and they are from Punjab’s Jalandhar. The workshop has completely transformed a regular looking Bolero into a Land Rover Defender using custom built parts.
First things first, the SUV does not look like a Bolero from any angle. The exterior has been completely modified. Starting with the front, it gets a metal off-road bumper with a bullbar in the front. There are projector fog lamps integrated into the metal bumper. The front grille and the headlamp covers are all custom made units and they are made from metal only. Fiberglass panels are not used for this project. The headlamps are aftermarket projector LED units. The fenders and the bonnet have also been redesigned and the SUV looks exactly like a previous generation Defender SUV.
The whole shell of the Boler was modified for this purpose. The workshop even extended the length of the Bolero to make it look more proportionate. The SUV also looks a lot more taller than the regular Bolero. That is because it now gets a 4 inch lift kit and the stock wheels have been replaced with aftermarket off-road spec wheels and chunky-looking tyres. The side profile also has Defender-like windows, doors, and quarter glass. There is a metal footstep that has been designed in metal for this SUV. At the rear, the SUV has been once again designed to look like the Defender.
The spare wheel is mounted on the chassis using a mount and this does not put the whole weight of the wheels on the door. The customer has asked to remove the third row seats and the second row seats have pushed to the back to create more space. The interior of this Bolero has been completely redone. the door pads and dashboard now get a brown coloured leatherette upholstery. The floor mats and the roofliners have all been customised and the seats are also wrapped in leatherette material. The SUV also comes with mounting points for the external rollcage and the same is shown in the video too. It took Big Daddy modifiers around 4 months and the approximate cost of this modification was around Rs 5 lakh.
